.... is dying of boredom at work. BLAH.
17 weeks since last LJ update (as if someone gives a fuck haha) but i think i have to post a recap of events that took place during the past weeks:
- pulling off the ex-comm presentation with wil, which was such a huge relief because... - HELLO REGULARIZATION! :D - dinner out with mara jenille and sammy at chili's - hearty breakfast at shakey's c/o ma`am raquel - first day screening of watchmen at greenbelt - exclusive Taken By Cars gig/ MISA year-ender party with free flowing drinks. good job to the team! it was one of the coolest college events i've been to even if it was exclusive to MISA members/alumni only. and also made me miss college days/events as well. - red jumpsuit apparatus live at glorietta for free - free admission to the E-heads Final Set concert! Reminscing to both their famous songs and the not-so-famous ones made me realize how much of a genius these guys are as both musicians and songwriters. The Huling El Bimbo finale with matching confetti and fireworks = HUWAW moment. The biggest and definitely the best local concert i've been to (which resulted to e-heads hangover days after). - hooters' chicken wings and creamery for the first time! - first time also to watch the UAAP volleyball finals live - night out with beverly at bonifacio high street, murray & devine burgers + strawberry-banana shake at the stock market - ababu katipunan - teazann crispy pata + jatujak thai food and iced tea - inuman and dvd night at symon's - chilling at Figaro, UP North - eastwood week - deb and steef's graduation dinners. we're no fresh grads anymore! - opening of miko's computer shop at retiro. congratulations to miko for being the first in the MIS batch to have his own business establishment. good luck! =) - cutting work to have lunch at wa ying binondo - pigging out at malcolm's salcedo village, mary grace cafe + craig david afterparty at ascend bar - sundo, knowing, 12 rounds (IDK why we chose to watch this), monsters vs. aliens, fast & furious, T2, friday the 13th - one month of stay at Korea DMWeb, being part of the friday babuyan club and ending my stay in the project with a grand dinner at john and yoko - going all the way to taytay to get those coveted adidas stan smiths at marked-down prices - first time to apply for a new passport on my own - north park kopi tiam and the mazda 3 trinoma outdoor parking lot incident with justine on a boring sunday afternoon - world class kabab e. rodriguez + cantina + mcdo for sombriety food - lunch out with mara jenny gucci at jack's loft il terrazo morato - splurging like there's no tomorrow at the MOA long weekend sale - sagada on holy week. almost not making it to the bus, riding on top of a jeep with a nice sunny view of the rice terraces, the near-death experiences in the cave connection (in all the attractions there actually), sunrise at kiltepan, breakfast and comfort food at yoghurt house, echo valley + hanging coffins, batad rice terraces and jumping on top of a 50-ft. waterfalls, bomokod falls, getting caught doing laundry in the communcal CR, HAM SHARWA, lemon pie house, waking at 4AM because of the cold weather, bontoc and ganduyan museums, symon deb and i being CSB's (Clueless Sa Baguio).. and of course, forgetting to bring cash and my own jacket in sagada! will probably go back here! =) - manila ocean park on a saturday afternoon
whole month of march and the first half of april was really really great =)

| TWILIGHT |
[November 27th, 9:11pm] |
**time to revive filmblogging!***
Most of the reviews I've read prior to watching Twilight shared a common bottom line: to lower one's expectations upon watching the movie adaptation. So I did lower them, and all I can say about Twilight? It's not bad at all, but it could've been a lot better.
IMO it would've been better if the producers had injected blockbuster/mind-blowing/effects-driven/action-packed elements in the movie adaptation or created a character-driven bold adaptation of the book to attract a wider crowd of moviegoers. Translating Twilight to the big screen was a difficult task because of two reasons:
1. The book itself is one hell of a borefest. I actually thought that Twilight was a modern day vampire saga with a romantic element on the side, similar to Anne Rice novels. How can teeny-bopper/romance flicks like this draw people, esp. to those who haven't even read or know nothing about Twilight?
2. It was hard to adapt novels like this into the big screen. Just like most adaptations, everything had to be condensed in a small amount of time. The book relied on wordy descriptions and the mysterious romance enveloping the two leads, which means everything becomes fast-paced in the movie, focusing on shallow grounds and leaving character development and those oh-so-romantic moments out the door. Again, what about those who don't know anything about the book? Will they able to easily catch up with the movie's track if it assumes that viewers have read the book? And for Twilight fanatics, will it still be able to captivate those breathtaking moments the same way the book did?
The answer: I guess it's a yes to fangirls who just keep on screaming everytime the two leads appear on screen together. (Gawd I cringe everytime they do that) But for me, it's a NO. Why? Two words: Robert Pattison. He just sucks at delivering his lines that most of the time it feels like platonic love that he's expressing to Kristen Stewart, who surprisingly fits the role of the damsel-in-distress lady. Stewart's a good actress despite her monotonous tone of voice and stoic facial expressions, and I think she'll go a long way. Pattison may barely pass the description given to Edward Cullen in the book, but he badly badly badly needs acting and speech lessons. And the make-up was horrible and amateur as it can get that it looked like Pattison was wearing excessive facial sunblock throughout the movie that he forgot to put some on his body. Supporting cast members were even better actors than Pattison.
On the brighter side of things, I do appreciate how the director crafted the movie that it feels like one giant MTV with lots of flimsy sequences but has that overlying tone/atmosphere the setting exudes- dark, mysterious and cloudy -- exactly how the author pictured the setting in the book. The setting and production, save the effects, were loyal to the book's descriptions. The musical score and soundtrack as well, alterno-rock music that was reminiscent of teen movies we're accustomed to, were helpful to the movie. I'd prefer it if Sophia Ford Coppola (Marie Antoinette, The Virgin Suicides) was the one in charge of this movie than Catherine Hardwicke (Lords of Dogtown, Thirteen). Coppola would have given us something more refreshing, unpredictable and out-of-the-boxish. However, I think Hardwicke still deserves props for her work.
It is no doubt that Twilight, both the book series and the movie, has generated enough hype for it to become overrated. But I guess this is a prime showcase of how pop culture of the new millenium is defined and molded. It's not a classic, but undoubtedly it will go down as one of those underdog phenomenon of the decade (like Legally Blonde). It's nothing really special since it's not the blockbuster type of movie, but if you're curious as to why the eff people have been crazy over Twilight, I guess it's worth the two-hour feed to your curiosity and a couple of hours of youthful and supernatural escapism despite the (forgiveable) amateur approach to the movie.

[May 10th, 10:05pm] |
Joining the bandwagon for the nth time.
1. I find it funny that sometimes we find ourselves on the same boat. At times, I would give you the same pieces of advice but ironically, the stuff I keep on saying should be things that I should also be doing (with regard to my own issues) yet I fail to do them. I just hope you'll learn from this experience the way I did, and always remember; MIND over HEART, and SELF first before OTHERS.
2. You've changed a lot for the past four years. I miss the old you- the good old you who I really admired and trusted. Whatever happened to our friendship? Or so I thought.
3. Aminin mo, may crush ka sa akin noon noh?! Halata ka naman noh kahit paano! At nabuking ka na rin noh! Naalala mo na paano? Hahahaha katangahan tsk tsk [sorry kapalmuks hehehe]
4. I know I've been an insensitive asshole, and for that, I would like to apologize. I'm really hoping that we could be friends again one of these days, `cause you're a great one to keep.
5. Even if we're miles away and we haven't been seeing or talking to each other that much unlike before, I still feel that you're just around here with me, and that's what I really like about our relationship. It really never fades, and I hope it just keeps on going.
6. People have known us to be like this, but actually we're really not. I hope we could work things out on this.
7. Secretly, I have a crush on you. Hehehehe :D
8. I noticed something about you when we got out of college, and all I can say is: hinay-hinay ka lang. Malayo pa ang lalakarin natin.
9. If you have something against me, face me like a man and don't involve others in this situation. For goodness' sake, you're already a grown-up yet your striking immaturity makes you really downright pathetic and disgusting.
10. We miss you badly. Iba talaga kapag wala ka.

| IT'S OFFICIALLY OVER (?) || THIS GOES OUT TO EVERYONE |
[March 30th, 11:03am] |
i still can't believe it.
the idea of being a fresh graduate and not having to worry over academic stuff still hasn't sunk into my system yet. ambilis talaga puta. andami kong hindi nagawa nung college!
college didn't really turn out to be something i expected in the first place, but it was still one hell of a ride.
to everyone who became part of this meaningful 4 years;
may you be... someone whom had a negative impression of me (or vice versa) or someone whom i've exchanged smiles with along the school corridors or someone whom i've talked to in the parking lot while i was in a rush to get into class (or while you were the one eager to get my parking slot) or someone who i knew because you sat beside/in front of/behind me in class or during tests or someone who i got to know while lining up in long queues for photocopying or admin matters or someone who i got to know because you borrowed a light from me in the smockets (or again, vice versa) or someone who was connected to a good friend or acquaintance or someone who i gave a headache because we were groupmates or partners for a school requirement or non-academic work or someone who tolerated my inquisitive nature and eventually responded to my calls for help or someone who asked for my help or someone who i took for granted or someone who listened to me even if it was just nonsense stuff that was coming out of my mouth or someone who showed me what the true meaning of friendship is
...no matter how big or small your role was, nevertheless you still made a difference. thank you so much. :)
Win or lose, it's the school we choose, This is the place where we belong.
fellow batchmates (esp. to those who i didn't get to see or greet last night): CONGRATULATIONS!!!! WHOOHOO!!!! sayang sa mga taong wala akong pics. owell sana magkita tayo one of these days :)
*whatever happened to the Minor in Management program for MIS grads?

| guess the movie game |
[March 2nd, 5:03pm] |
Rules:
→ pick 15 of your FAVORITE movies! → go to IMDB and find a quote for each movie. → post them here for everyone to guess. → strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie. → no googling/using imdb search functions!
1. This one time, at band camp, I stuck a flute in my *****. (this one's pretty obvious) 2. Brenda, I don't want to lie to you anymore. All right? I'm not a doctor. I never went to medical school. I'm not a lawyer, or a Harvard graduate, or a Lutheran. Brenda, I ran away from home a year and a half ago when I was 16. 3. I've already wasted my whole life. I want to tell you with my last breath that I have always loved you. I would rather be a ghost, drifting by your side as a condemned soul, than enter heaven without you. Because of your love, I will never be a lonely spirit. (clue: foreign film) 4. Remember the two house rules; Number One: No dating till you graduate. Number Two: No dating till you graduate. 5. I spent the last 12 years of my life building rooms like this specifically to keep out people like us. 6. ... I am McLovin! 7. Most of the week we were Ozzie and Harriet, but every Saturday night we were finding something out: we were finding out more and more that we were not alone. It used to be that when I came home angry and depressed I'd just clean my condo, polish my Scandinavian furniture. I should have been looking for a new condo. I should have been haggling with my insurance company. I should have been upset about my nice, neat, flaming little shit. But I wasn't. 8. You wanted my advice, right? Well here it is. Don't forget Billy Flynn's number one client is... Billy Flynn. 9. Now Sid, don't you blame the movies, movies don't create psychos, movies make psychos more creative! 10. From now on, I'll be at your side. Forever, I promise. Just give me time to grow up. (clue: another foreign film) 11. Answer me! Are you a king? How about me? Will you work a little magic for me? He's not guilty of a crime, he's just crazy. (clue: this line wasn't delivered in english) 12. Are you staring at me or her? 'Cause you're starting to freak me out. 13. I've already lost you once, I'm not gonna lose you again. 14. Forever and ever, babe 15. Inton! Ang mga bata!!!!

can i just say that the past week has been bliss. even if i had less than 8 hours of sleep everyday, i almost killed a kid on the street, had to shell out almost a thousand bucks for that incident and had a stupid taxi driver hit my bumper, it was still one of the best weeks. EVER. kahit parang inulanan ako ng kamalasan itong linggo, DABEST pa rin. :D siguro talagang may balanse dapat ang kaligayahan at kamalasan ng tao?.. ok kadiri na pakinggan.
from the immersion group's inuman at jena's house, to my first time to watch UAAP an ADMU-DLSU game at the big dome, to cutting school the whole day last monday, the switchfoot concert, cantina, saturday night and sunday as well. and yes, may venue na rin ang rock u 2!
switchfoot concert rocked! not that much of a fan, but i had no idea they had so much energy on stage and it was really fun watching them live. especially when jonathan foreman sang only hope alone (ang ganda talaga ng moment na yun) and their last song (american dream ba title??) where jon goes to the middle of the crowd and asks everyone to flash their cameras together. 14 songs for 1,200 bucks was really worth it. anlayo nga lang ng venue at naligaw pa kami papunta hehe and tons of familiar faces and people i know during the concert! sa pilahan, sa likod, sa kanan, sa kaliwa, sa harap, sa paglabas blah parang convention ng mga taong magkakakilala hahaha sayang dapat moshpit area na lang! and sayang din sira ang digicam ko grrar time to go to megamall to have it repaired >.<

since everyone's making posts or love letters for aisis, here's mine:
dear aisis and the people behind seniors' online enlistment,
you are such stupid idiots that you ought to be buttfucked by fugly creatures that can give you HIV.
i still don't see the point as to why you have to implement online enlistment for us seniors. you see, we already have random numbers, so why create "online reservation of classes" when we can do it by ourselves on june 7 and in person? so the purpose of random numbers is now defeated. bakit pa kailangan may sequence sa pagconfirm ng classes at sa pagbayad ng tuition? so stupid.
you think online enlistment would be more fair for people who have high random numbers? i don't think so. this thing resulted to more chaos by giving everyone equal opportunities of getting the classes they want, hence creating more traffic, slower server access and bearing intolerable impatience on us. even if all of us can access the site together at 8 am, everything still becomes a matter of luck just like the random number system- lucky for those who can access the site right away. so what's the use? i would rather have an ugly random number and accept the fate that i'll be having a fucked up schedule and a bad line-up of professors than wait for an entire day, anticipating that somehow i'll get a decent schedule and prof line-up but in the end nothing certain happens.
you think online enlistment would entail less expenses in terms of manlabor, logistics and energy? hahaha. look what happened; you had to be up on your asses for the past 24 hours handling queries and complaints. and what about students who only have dial up internet or those dormers who don't have their own internet access? or what about those students currently on vacation and are now in another province/country who don't have that amount of time to spend an entire day on the net? you see, we're also humans who are preoccupied with other things aside from fixing our own schedules. tsk tsk how inconsiderate of you. and it even cost us more than just going to school for an hour or so. i even had to miss one day of our ojt since our workstations in the office can't load the aisis page, just to find out that i'll be spending the whole day at home staring at my browser, waiting for the enlistment page to load. it may provide less expenses for you guys, but more costs and expenses on behalf of the whole student body. and to think part of our tuition fee goes to you guys.
you think online enlistment will be convenient for all of us since the duration will take one whole week? tanga pala kayo eh. parang hindi niyo kilala kaming mga atenista. tingin mo ba, only a few number of people will access the site for each day of the enlistment week? hindi mo ba naisip na sabay-sabay mag-aagawan mga tao sa unang araw pa lang?
you see, it all boils down to one thing: you have already foreseen that something wrong's gonna happen, yet you still forced the online enlistment to push through! you've already seen the torture the regcom and a few of the orsem people have endured the day before our enlistment. to think that regcom and orsem people only consists of around 400 people, what more with 1000+ seniors?! and you claim that you're continously improving the system? WTF so why did you have to fucking insist when you already had the slight idea that the server will crash eventually?? ayaw mo ba magpatalo sa dlsu at UP kasi sila, matagal nang online enlistment? gago ka pala eh!
as of now, i could just go on rambling and rambling on the imbecility you have displayed for this week, but i guess i'll just stop for now, give you a pat on the back and say "good job, aisis. thank you so much because for once before we graduate, our batch has fostered unity through hatred towards you."
sincerely,

...or S.A.D or T.I.I.S. day for many of us :D
- woke up late already. haha :) - was supposed to do the IT infra project proposal but the guy who was supposed to be our interviewee didn't show up at his office.. so erch. - saw lots of people in school who seem to be happy for some reason. dahil ba valentines ngayon? and lots of people i saw wearing red. - went to eastwood with roy, lynette and len. - watched music & lyrics. cute ng movie!:D the theater was packed with ateneans! actually, buong eastwood nga ata. - ate at fascoli's after. lots of ateneans there too. saw fil11 blockmates na ES majors there and some MIS sophomores and seniors. - went back to ateneo after. the campus was empty.. parang deserted talaga compared to other days na medyo marami pang tao at night time. - took me 20 minutes to get home. kala ko matatagalan pa! - had valentines' dinner with family at chocolate kiss roces. full house, but we managed to get good seats eventually. sarap ng food :)
i enjoyed v-day this year even if i'm not supposed to be enjoying it. hope everyone also enjoyed theirs :D

gawd this has got to be the most tiring day of the semester. even if there were no quizzes or major requirements whatsoever. i spent almost the whole day driving. chia tao na nga ng bayan. and damn the traffic along katipunan in the afternoon. it took almost an hour to reach ateneo from libis because of that crane blocking two lanes in katipunan.
so i went back to ateneo just to fetch the girls from the concert team. then we proceeded to salcedo village to find coffee bean and tea leaf there. got lost in the business district of makati, and almost got caught by those yellow policemen! for beating the yellow light? hmpf gutom lang siguro mga buwayang yun. eat dust b*tch!
after driving around, making illegal u-turns and looking at the road maps with jove as the navigator, it took us almost 30 minutes to find the only coffee bean in the philippines i've never been to. we were very prompt- more than 30 minutes before our meeting time, we already arrived. the manager of up dharma down kept on reiterating "5 pm kita tayo" the whole day, so okay better not disappoint these guys.
when 5 pm came, there was no sign of the band and the manager in the coffee shop. then there were these 3 guys who occupied the table beside us. we're not sure if they're the band. wala kasi ung lead girl, and i dunno how these guys look like. then after 30 minutes, saka lang kami tinext ng manager na sila pala yun! haha really funny magkasama na buong time sa loob ng coffee bean, ndi pa nagpapansinan. wala pa kasi si dharma (yung lead girl) eh!
the members look quite reserved- they didn't speak that much while we were in the table. then when dharma armi came, ayun mejo umingay na. she reminds me of my philo prof. pareho silang parang looney and kengkoy-like funny. and she totally looks different from the MTV! saka nakakatawa sila para silang hindi band kung kumilos together. then gulat kami yung barista pala ng CBTL dun, fan ng up dharma! lucky him he works there, so he had his lyrics booklet of up dharma signed by all of em. haha
one band down, three more to go. and many more sponsors to contact.

( All movies are satanic and blasphemous )
wow. wala akong masabi. if you're gonna ban hollywood movies that promote "pornography and blasphemy" according to your standards, you might as well close down all the theatres in the metro and stop showing movies to the masses. ano gusto niyong papanuorin sa mga tao? puro mga close to you at shaggy dog??
yes, those movies you mentioned are downright violent and promote sexuality, drugs and all those immoral stuff that you vehemently object. and that's the reason why these movies are rated R13/R18; to keep the minors from watching them in the theatres and to aware the public that these movies are not suitable to children. in the end, it's all about social responsibility. MTRCB has done their part by giving these movies such ratings and imposing laws in theatres that one should show an ID that verifies his or her age. it's the choice of the filipino viewer anyway, not yours. you're insulting the intelligence of the filipinos by implying that we can't be mature viewers.
well, as if prohibiting these movies from the theatres would stop the children from having access to watching them. people who can't get inside the theatres either because of financial instability (theatre admission rate inflation because of the VAT) or the R ratings can opt to buy a VCD/DVD downtown or download a torrent of that movie over the net. and i think it's a much better option since these videos are uncut and uncensored - unlike the ones being shown in theatres that obviously had some scenes chopped off. if you think censoring or banning movies like this can result to a better, more disciplined and well-behaved future generation of citizens or perhaps more devout and conservative catholics, might as well open your eyes, look around and think again.
pati ba naman v for vendetta hindi pinalampasan? yes, in a way, the movie instills rebellion and dissects the deficiencies of a totalitarian government, but it gives out a LOT of powerful messages on government, politics and the power of a nation as well. andaming magagandang sinabi ng mga actors dito. depriving filipinos with movies like this that convey a lot of meaningful themes and display genuine art would also equate to miseducation of the masses. it's like you're saying that everything that movies have to say are bad for you.
hostel patterned after playboy?? ahahahaha trailer lang ata ng mga playboy series ang nakita niyo at napagkumpara niyo na kaagad ang buong pelikula doon. these movies promote satanism? well, i say you are the ones promoting satanism by bursting out your hypocrisy and coming out clean. whatever. what you, PAAP (which also stands for mga Putanginang Ass-cracks And Pretenders)should dwell on is the ongoing piracy situation we have in the country, which serves as a powerful medium to spread porn (as in real porn, not the type of porn you see in hollywood movies) even to minors. At only P20 bucks, a 9-year-old kid can actually buy a good quality Philippine university scandal VCD at Quiapo without the vendor questioning his age.
god. why is this country filled with close-minded yet deceitful people?

after more than 2 years of not paying a visit to my dentist, this is the price i pay for:
2 hours of sitting my ass on the chair(and eventually falling asleep on the last 30 minutes); 15 cavities that have to be repaired with pasta; //which also means 15 painful drills 5 shots of anesthesia(the fuck if i misspelled it); 8 pieces of teeth that were reshaped(my dentist claims that my ortho did a bad job of reshaping my teeth after my braces were removed); 1 tooth that underwent cosmetics(that's my dentist's term for the treatment she did for the chip on my tooth); 1 fucking reappointment tomorrow afternoon. cause im not yet finished with the gazillion things that still need to be done with my teeth.
//ARGH.
sked for the rest of the week: friday [which is tomorrow] + dentist. #&$*@( + rango's birthday bash at belissima, the fort. and as usual, school bus na naman ako bukas.
saturday + ica fair in the afternoon + kei's surprise birthday bash, which is far away from civilation. hahahaha :D
sunday +++ ano pwedeng gawin?? +++
